What if my employee works for multiple families?

How contracts, payslips, and UIF work when your domestic worker has more than one employer.

👥 It’s perfectly legal, and very common

Many domestic workers in South Africa work for more than one household, especially if they:

  • Work part-time

  • Only work a few days a week for each family

  • Have different jobs on different days (e.g. Monday at House A, Wednesday at House B)

AskMandla supports this setup, and keeps records for each job completely separate.

✅ Each employer needs their own contract

Each employer must:

  • Sign a separate employment contract with the worker

  • Set clear days, hours, and salary for that job

  • Pay the employee directly

  • Provide a payslip (automated by AskMandla)

📄 One worker = multiple employers = multiple contracts.

💼 UIF: Each employer is responsible separately

Even if your worker is employed by more than one family:

Each employer must handle UIF independently.

  • You are responsible for:

    • Registering as an employer with UIF

    • Deducting 1% UIF from your employee’s salary

    • Paying 1% UIF as your own employer contribution

    • Submitting your own monthly UIF declaration

AskMandla will never combine UIF contributions across employers.
We file UIF only for your portion of the employment.

🧾 Payslips and recordkeeping

AskMandla:

  • Generates a compliant payslip for each job

  • Tracks leave, absences, and warnings separately per employer

  • Keeps each employment profile independent and secure

Your employee:

  • Gets a clear payslip for each job

  • Can see all records via WhatsApp

💬 What your employee should know

Your domestic worker should:

  • Be clear about which days they work for which household

  • Understand that each job is treated separately for contracts, payslips, and UIF

  • Know that AskMandla keeps their employment records safe — and can send them all payslips on request

🔁 What if you share an employee with another AskMandla user?

Each employer:

  • Has their own AskMandla account

  • Pays their own salary and invoice

  • Manages their own UIF filing and compliance

We handle the separation of data and records for you.

🚫 What AskMandla does not do

  • ❌ We do not combine UIF contributions

  • ❌ We do not act as the legal employer

  • ❌ We do not share schedules or balances between employers

We’re here to support you in your role as an individual employer.
